How to Practice Listening

The Listening module lets you work through a full test one section at a time. Each section has its own audio, instructions, and question set.

What the test looks like​

A full listening test is split into 4 sections.

At the start, you will see:

  • the test title
  • the number of sections
  • the total number of questions
  • the test time limit shown at the top

Click Start Now when you are ready.

How the section flow works​

At the top of the screen, you will see a section stepper.

It helps you track:

  • which section you are on now
  • which sections are already completed
  • which sections are still locked

You move forward one section at a time. When you submit the current section, the next section unlocks.

Using the audio player​

Each section includes an audio player with simple controls:

  • play / pause
  • a progress bar
  • volume control
  • an ended state when the track finishes

As long as the test audio was added in a supported format such as MP3 or WAV, you can play it inside the app.

Wear headphones if you want a more exam-like practice session.

Question types you may see​

Listening tests can include question types such as:

  • fill-in-the-blank
  • multiple choice
  • matching
  • map labelling

For fill-in questions, watch for the small word-limit note under the answer box. For example, it may say "no more than two words".

A normal section-by-section flow​

  1. Start the test.
  2. Play the audio for Section 1.
  3. Answer the questions while listening.
  4. Click Submit & Continue to unlock the next section.
  5. Repeat this for Sections 2, 3, and 4.
  6. After the last section, the app shows your results.

How your band score is calculated​

When the test ends, the app checks how many answers were correct and converts that total into an estimated IELTS band score on the 0-9 scale.

Your results show:

  • your overall Band Score
  • your total correct answers
  • a section-by-section breakdown

Reviewing your answers​

After finishing, you can open Review Answers.

This shows:

  • the answer you gave
  • whether it was correct or incorrect
  • the correct answer for mistakes

That makes it easier to see whether your problems came from one section or from one question type.
